Stijn Demeestere interviewed by De Tijd on legal aspects of overtime work with respect to time registration

Time registration systems would need to be put in place by employers as a result of the law on feasible and flexible work

In February 2017, the law on feasible and flexible work was adopted by parliament. This legal framework would allow employees more freedom on when their working hours are performed during the day. Consequently, companies would need to implement a time registration system.

In this regard, working flexible hours may at times be confused with working overtime. Head of Laga's Employment, pensions and benefits practice Stijn Demeetere clarifies the legal aspects around what qualifies as overtime with respect to time registration.
