Alain Laurent Verbeke interviewed on Terzake television program

Alain Laurent shares his expertise in private law

7 March 2018

Greenille by Laga partner Alain Laurent Verbeke was recently interviewed on "Terzake", a current affairs television program broadcast by the VRT (national public-service broadcaster for the Flemish Region).

In a report regarding the struggle which debtors face in paying back their debts in Belgium, Alain Laurent provides insight into the applicable legislation. He underlines two key points:

  • With recoveries, the focus should be shifted from the individual debt to the individual debtor himself/herself, and all his/her claims should be treated collectively based on mediation
  • As public officers, bailiffs are very competent for that matter and the National Chamber of Bailiffs in Belgium (NKGB) can introduce this in the deontological protocol
