Silvia Van Dyck receives Fernand Collin Prize for Law

Laga is pround to announce that a key member of the Fraud and White-collar crime team has received a prestigious award for academic excellence.

Silvia Van Dyck will receive the Fernand Collin Prize for Law 2008 for her Ph.D. dissertation on Forgery in Documents (K.U.Leuven, 2006), which was published by Intersentia in 2007. It's the first monograph on (positive) Criminal Law to receive the Collin Prize.

Silvia was a departmental tutor at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KUL) where she also holds a Ph.D. She published numerous papers on economical criminal law and corporate criminal law. Her areas of specialization include criminal law with expertise in white collar crime, and the interface between criminal law and corporate law, tax law, and social law.

The Fernand Collin Prize for Law is awarded every two years to the author of the book adjudged to be the most significant contribution to the progress of legal sciences. Previous laureates were a.o. prof. W. Van Gerven, prof. K. Lenaerts, prof. A. Van Oevelen and prof S. Stijns.

This year’s ceremony takes place on 20 October 2008 at the Universitaire Stichting and will be attended by distinguished representatives of the government, academia, and the legal profession.
