Privacy at Work - Employment seminar
Members of the Employment law team lectured at the 'Privacy at Work' seminar held by the Flemish Work and Professional Training Office (VDAB) at the Kasteel van Ham in Steenokkerzeel on 9 December 2008. In attendance, were legal professionals and notably Human Ressources Directors.
Speaking on behalf of Laga Thomas Martens, lawyer, and Geert Joosten, Counsel for the Employment law team and specialist in regulations relating to works councils and committees for prevention and protection in the workplace as well as the social security system for the self-employed and assistance with social inspections. Together they discussed some of the following issues:
- To what extent can an employee check the e mails, internet behaviour or mobile phone use of their staff?
- Are cameras allowed at the workplace?
- Where is the difference between legitimate surveillance and a violation of someone's privacy?
