Laga's pan European study on the cost of dismissal opens the debate
With an average notice period of 12 months for employees, the cost of dismissal in Belgium is higher than in any of the other researched countries. On the other hand, Belgium is also the only country where the employer is not required to motivate the reasons for dismissal, a position which is subject to many questions.
Laga Employment Law Partner Erwin Vandervelde and Employment Law specialist Lieven Monserez were recently interviewed by several newspapers and magazines over the results of Laga’s comparative study on the dismissal policy of 19 European countries.
Should you wish to receive a copy of the aforementioned study, please contact Erwin Vandervelde at Laga.
