Laga reinforces its business law practice

Brussels, 28 June 2011 – Laga, one of the most prominent law firms in Belgium, is pleased to announce the arrival of two senior lawyers, Kathleen de Hornois and Christoph Michiels and the promotion of Emmanuel Leroux to partner and of Stefaan van Dyck to counsel.

Kathleen De hornois joins as partner and head Laga’s public law practice. She specialises in public procurement, administrative law and environmental law. Kathleen has extensive experience in administrative law, public procurement, public-private partnerships, environmental law, town planning and real estate in general. She worked for 6 years as senior legal counsel in charge of all public and administrative law aspects at bpost, during which she was involved in all major investment projects. As of June 2010, Kathleen headed the real estate department of bpost. Before joining bpost, Kathleen built her legal expertise in the public law department of DLA.

Christoph Michiels joins Laga’s corporate M&A practice as a partner. He focuses on cross-border and domestic M&A, private equity/venture capital and capital markets transactions. He also advises clients on corporate law, financial law and general commercial law matters. For the last 10 years Christoph has been at the forefront of the corporate practice at Stibbe, where he was involved in numerous large national and international M&A and capital markets transactions (initial public offerings, private placements, rights issues, etc). He published several articles on corporate law and collaborated to the drafting of the article-by-article commentary of the Belgian Company Code.

Emmanuel Leroux is promoted to partner in the corporate M&A practice. He focuses on corporate law, M&A, capital markets transactions, shareholders’ disputes and corporate litigation. He also has a particular expertise in corporate governance. Emmanuel started his career at Laga in 2001. He is a regular lecturer at academic and commercial seminars and published several articles on corporate law and corporate governance.

Stefaan Van Dyck is promoted to counsel in the banking & finance and real estate practice. He has extensive experience in bank lending, real estate financing, corporate real estate advice and real estate transactions. He advises clients on the civil law, financial and securities law, structural and corporate aspects of national and cross-border finance and real estate transactions. Stefaan started his career at Laga in 2001.
