Walloon government adopts implementing decisions further to the Decree on commercial establishments

05.06.15 | On 5 February 2015, the Decree concerning commercial establishments was adopted by the Walloon Parliament. This Decree has been implemented by the Walloon government through four decisions.

04.06.15 | The Law of 27 April 2015 (published and entered into force on 30 April 2015) sets the maximum margin for remuneration cost evolution at 0% for 2015 and at 0.5% for 2016. Furthermore, it establishes that, for 2016, the maximum margin of 0.5% can be increased by 0.3% of the total net remuneration, without increasing the costs to the employer.

Imminent Belgian “look-through tax” on income from legal constructions

09.04.15 | The so-called look-through tax (doorkijkbelasting or impôt de transparence), also referred to as the “Cayman tax”, was announced in the Government Agreement of 9 October 2014. Although the tax itself (once submitted to Parliament, voted and published) will be new, it was not really unexpected.

Extended possibility to cumulate pension and professional income

05.02.15 | As announced by the new Michel I government in its policy statement, the possibility to earn professional income after retirement is extended, both for employees (Royal Decree of 20 January 2015) and self-employed workers (Royal Decree of 18 January 2015). These Royal Decrees entered into force retroactively on 1 January 2015.
